start-up employee shares question
Discussion
What kind of shares are they?
I'm guessing its a standard Ltd with two Directors. Do they have 50% each?
You'll have to be very valuable to them for them to 'give' you shares IMHO.
The shares are only really going to be worth anything if the business gets sold, how likely do you think this is.

Get it in writing - otherwise it is as good a chocolate teapot.
I have seen this happen to 4 of my friends over the years - none of them got the shares.
If the directors counter with "Why do you need it in writing? Don't you trust us to do the right thing by you?"
Counter with - "Why is it so problematic to put it in writing?"
