Can anyone tell me how long an employer can ask an employee to work in an environment that is massively different from their contract, on a temporary basis, before it is classed as a permanent job change and therefore their previous role has been made redundant.

There would need to be more information really.

However, there is a possibility that by continuing to work in the new role you have affirmed the contractual changes.

I have been in the new role for approx 5 months, was originally told would be temporary, no real time frame given. When i complained I was told another employee could do this role and I would then need to cover their role.

I was originally working a field based role, then put on customer site, then told I can work in our local office to cover another role.

What were you employed to do? How long have you been employed?

And fundamentally, what is it you hope to achieve?

Sorry typo above, employed in a field role, ie: visiting different customer sites every day from home, have been employed at same place for last 15+ years. I am now being made to take a customer site based role or an office based role in our head office.
