People complaining on behalf of others?
Discussion
There was a thread about bleeding heart liberals etc in the lounge I think but heres a real one about me (who would ever believe it) at work today.
Two people who witnessed a conversation between myself and another complained on their behalf (and without their knowledge) to HR about me.
My line manager spoke with the person who I had been speaking with and they said they weren't offended but that I was fairly direct in what I had said. I meant to be to make sure they understood the implications of their actions. No swearing, no names called, just an explanation of what was going to happen because of their incorrect actions.
HR manager had an informal word with me today because two people who I wasn't actually speaking to were offended on behalf of someone else who wasn't!!
I dutifully said I would take he advise into consideration but WTF!

Offended - did you use racist/sexist/discriminatory words?
Nope, not at all. To put into context it was in a school so all on best behaviour, all very PC.What they objected to was me questioning the persons actions which I felt were wrong, explained what the implications were and what they should have done. Maybe finishing with a stern glare

I wasn't belittling them personally in any way and they didn't really have an issue and at the time agreed and that was it.
I don't really have an issue with it as such it's just a very irritating environment to be in where half the people are the sort who are just waiting for their next crusade to "do the right thing".

I do some work with disabled people and, almost without exception, they really appreciate the efforts we go to in order to adapt facilities and services to meet their needs.
Their invited guests, on the other hand, will complain about the special facilities we provide, even though they KNOW that these aren't being provided for their use (like wheelchair accessible showers, shuttle buses, etc) and are only there for the people who need them.
More than one has been invited to go off and use the facilities available to the general public if the enhanced facilities aren't to their liking - but not one ever has!!!!
