Is it worth changing job for money and new environment?
- Currently I am working (Senior .Net Developer) for a company where there is no motivation at all, environment is not very professional, even the company doesn’t care when people leave. There is a lot of work to do but you don’t feel like doing it.
- I’m not learning new things in this job, but the new job offers the same, but with higher salary (£300 more). After doing some research in this new job, I discovered that people are leaving this company after two years.
- New job is at same travel distance.
- I have been here for over two years and no pay raise, i think there won't be any pay review in next 2-3 years. I have spoken to my line manager and he said things are tight at the moment.
- I think i will be less Utilizing my skills in this new job (70% SQL and 30% .Net). Currently we are using .Net web forms and I have persuade my manager to develop new stuff in MVC and Entity framework. I have full authority how I design it but i will have to learn it on my own. I work on both front and back end.
In this new offer, I will be spending more time on back end reporting and sql instead of .net web forms.
I am thinking is this a job really worth taking.

As mentioned in one of my other threads the .net market is booming beyond belief.
The grass maybe greener but there are cow pats in every field. As a .net dev though your choice of fields is endless.
The new job may be worth it. Bet the are plenty of other jobs nearby as well.
People leaving after two years isn't always a bad sign. most companies will take devs on pay them what they ask and never raise their salary. Most then move on to higher wages.

Is it worth staying in current job until i learn and do at least one project on MVC and Entity framework OR join new company and do more SSRS than .Net?The grass maybe greener but there are cow pats in every field. As a .net dev though your choice of fields is endless.

There are jobs near by but most of them are looking for MVC developers.

Stay put for now, sharpen up your skills and your CV, and wait for a better offer.

It's not worth losing your current level of employment protection for £300.I have been here for over two years .
