Managing Director Keeps Moving the Goal Posts - Advice
Discussion
Good Evening
Basically I have been in new employment for the past 7 months, recently completing my probation period.
There has been a few concerns with my new job, some which I feel are quite unfair.
My background prior to this job was for a car sales executive for a franchised dealership, I worked there for ten months and realised there was aspects of the job that I wouldn't want to pursue as a career.
Now I still work in the motor industry and in a role that involves a bit of low pressured selling, but also other duties as well.
The niggles with my new job are:
My Job title is different from the job title that I applied for (Although Job description is the same) , petty I know but its a less prestigious title, which may work against me on my CV.
During my interview I was strictly told there would be no cold calling involved or pressure selling, and that I would be put onto a company profit share type bonus after 6 months, this was after I explained that I didn't like being on commission or cold calling etc as a salesman. Now it seems that if I want to increase my wage (which isn't massively high at 18k) I have to cold call and get new customers on board and purchasing through us. I feel this is a complete joke as I have worked hard with existing customers going out to visit them and helping generate more sales, and I've also converted customers who signed up to our site on a 'whim' who had never logged in since signing up into buying vehicles.
The reason this has starting to really annoy me is because he bought it up the other day with me in a meeting, implying that this was my role all along and that I'm not doing it properly, and he keeps dangling this bonus scheme over my like a carrot to a donkey.
The original job duties are:
Building and developing client relationships
Engaging customers via phone on upcoming sales
Pre-sale preparation
Account Management
Provide face to face and telephone service for vendors and buyers
Pro-actively calling customers
Visitor hospitality
Administration
Ensuring specification check is carried out on on all high spec vehicles
Checking of pre-sale details for missing reserves, photos and documents
Sending sale catalogues to clients
Invoice vehicles
