Move from Project Management (construction) to other fields

Has another done it? I'd like to move into something more dynamic, more lucrative and more exciting.

Id stay in construction for the right project - something like the Olympics or a major renewable energy project.

I would say project management is fairly lucrative

Any ideas what you would do? I expect most jobs would require retraining and a sizable pay cut... Unless you can find a job in your current company or another firm in your industry that values your experience and allows you so shift into a different area.

Not the same type of move but somebody I know well went from recruitment, to recruitment projects to resourcing for healthcare new product development, to running healthcare projects, to banking/compliance. All in the space of less than 7 years.

Moderately well paid. Not lucrative. Degree, masters degree, 60+ hours a week, high stress, high levels of responsibility, criminally liable if things go wrong. Might get 70k a year by the time your in your 50s

learn some 'tech stuff' and move over to technology/software project management
