First job interview in 20 years

What can I expect in a job interview these days? Any pointers? Are there any websites that can help with common questions and scenarios? Any advice greatfully received.

Last year I was looking for new work having been with the same company for 16 years. I got a role after my first interview. The interview questions did not seem too daunting and had not changed in the intervening years. In fact, I had tougher questions 20 years ago. I think maturity and a greater focus on my experience made the questions simpler to answer.

When I was a fresh graduate, I had some real 'off-the-wall' questions which threw me a little. (I take things quite literally, so some questions just sent me on a curve ball when I was younger!)

I think the most important things are to be relaxed and honest with the interviewer. Then the questions will 'almost' answer themselves!

The best advice I have for any interview is simple - When you walk in, you don't have the job. Virtually nothing you can do can make that situation worse. Relax - treat it like an opportunity, not a source of stress.

Google some standard interview questions and answer them - just so you are completely comfortable if they come up.

i wouldnt work for an employer whose best interview questions were "what type of animal you like to be". the interview is 2 way and as well as then liking you youve got to like them (at least during the honeymoon period).

almost feel like theyre wasting both our times.
