What has any of his behaviour got to do with age?

Has the OP mentioned age?

Sounds like the OP should at least have a conversation with his local plod about Martin. There's plenty of tales of folk doing something tragic and people saying afterwards 'I wish we'd seen the signs so we could have done something'.

Well I think you've seen the signs and having the Police take an interest should do no harm but it could save lives.

No - it was my eyesight (due to age no doubt). I read "odd" as "old" getmecoat

I work in media.
Lots of odd people. See Jimmy Saville.

We had one the other day.

Her. "Its too hot in the office"

Us "turn the aircon temp down"

Her "that's not my job and I'm not electrically qualified to do it"

I often refer to the front door as the common sense barrier.

As I work in engineering we get quite a few people that the wife (mental health worker) would describe as being on the spectrum (autistic).

This provides some interesting characters though, the most notable was Brian. Odd chap, all skin and bones, drove a Lada estate back when he started with us and the arriving at work ritual was worth a watch:- Get out of car, put on coat, hat, gloves, etc. even though the entrance door was less than a hundred yards away, lock car, check door, check all the other doors even though he'd only ever opened one that morning, wander round the car at least half a dozen time checking the doors and everything else, eventually satisfy himself that the car was okay and come into work. He also used to come down the pub with us on a Friday, guess he thought he should make an effort to fit in, but then had his half a lemonade and spend the rest of the time we were having a few pints and some food wandering round and round the beer garden.

Also used to fly off the handle at odd things, most classic of which had him leaving a resignation note on his desk (though not very coherent) and storming out of the office... only to come back a few hours later to apologise. Luckily no one took any of this seriously.

Although weird he was pretty good at his job and very intelligent so we just lived with his weird quirks. There have been others over the years but he was the weirdest.

We have a 55 year old bloke that randomly beat boxes, sometimes you'll be in a meeting and suddenly "boom bum tish budum budum bownerawm tish" then stops and just carries on looking at the person talking as if nothing happened.

One chap always bought his lunch from the canteen, he took the tray full of food and proceeded to the gents toilet and eat his lunch in in trap number 3.
Every day.

One time, I was in trap number 3, with trap number 1,2 and 4 being vacant.
He waited for me to finish - and then he occupied trap number 3 as usual.

I don't think he was a well man.

A sales rep came in one day to demonstrate a very large, expensive bit of kit. It came in a huge cardboard box.

Removed from the box, onto the bench and halfway through the demo everyone starts to notice that the box is now moving round the room on it's own.

The dept head shouted, "Andy, if you're naked in there you're fired." We then listened to the sound of Andy putting his clothes back on whilst still in the box. Brilliant engineer, great mathematician but somehow didn't have his braincells connected in a way that much of society would find acceptable.

Had you just christened the toilet ? Did you leave him a nice big skid mark ? Did you bother flushing ?

We used to have a woman work in our coffee shop who used to sort of half talk to you and half to herself. My female colleagues said she used to sit in a toilet cubicle claiming (to herself) everyone was plotting against her.

Good grief. Don't get too close to him, you might catch something.

We had a very insecure guy join us who would tell porkies about his health amongst other random things. He had big C, gall stones, was on the list for a new kidney, had a villa in Spain, said his new girlfriend had proposed to him via text when we were at Skylon restaurant in London on a work do.

The same idiot used to try and lay claim to everyone else's projects as his own.

Total Walter Mitty.
