AP HV training 10 day course

Just a quick feeler out to the fold - who here has done the AP course and what were your thoughts on it, Have done HV Operators course and a refresher course, quite ok with them but will be doing the AP HV course next one up and was hoping to find out who has done it and what the thoughts on it were.

Who is running the training and this would result in being an AP under who's Safety Rules?

it will be a recognised training college and once training is done its backed up by site familiarity.

proper training though.

Not sure how much value is an independent AP assessment, most DNO's will only accept their own authorisations, suppose may open a door to private network but these are fairly slim on the ground. Tends to be a bit of a catch 22 with SAP and AP authorisations and a very closed shop. Most successful route in always appears to be authorisation as a staff member and subsequently depart when authorised, experienced and useful.

Ive just started on a new position - and Ive to take my AP have done some research and was hoping for some comment on others views on doing the AP course.

Well completed the 10 day course. Site familurisation and all that and then earlier this week did my site assessment with the authorising engineer so now have my autorised HV ticket.

not as easy as i thought, not in the actual physical switching but it was all in the procedures permits and writing up. still an interesting experience.
