A Levels as an Adult

Am wanting to do a Business A-level, probably the AQA one.

Have found a school that will let me sit the 3 exams (new style) for £250 which seems the cheapest around here.

Question is, do you need to do the first year exams (AS Level) before you sit the second year A-level exams, or could I just work towards the A-level exams and sit those?

Not my area, I'm more NVQ route but from what I remember the final grade is a combination of the AS and A2 exams so I think the answer is "no".

The A level exams are changing soon if not already. After the change they will have zero course work and you do not have to do the AS level. Before the changes you have to do both parts. The Government has been pushing the exam boards to increase the difficulty of GCSEs and A Levels over the last few years, it is likely next years A Levels will be easier than the year after. GCSEs now are much closer to the style and difficulty of O levels...

yep, it's the new style.
so no course work and 3 exams rather than 6. which is hell of a lot easier and cheaper for me!

We were told that all the Russell Group Unis have written to all the sixth forms and colleges recommending that they carry on doing the AS level as that group of Unis see the AS level as a benefit. Something to bear in mind if you plan to go to Uni.

Fortunately already have a degree, just doing this to improve my CV and to learn the subject for no other reason than to know a bit more.

Have you thought about a 2yr Opn University course from their business school instead?

Just thinking that if you already have a degree, will an A-Level not be overlooked a little on your CV?

Having said that, an OU course will be significantly more expensive no doubt.
