I'm trying to get my head around holiday allowance for a part time employee (me!) and was hoping someone could help. I work five days a week, 08:30 - 3pm which equates to 80% of the hours a full time employee would do. As a result I get 80% of the full time salary and 80% of the lunch break. I've also been given 80% of the holiday days - ie something like 17 rather than 21. Is that right, or does the fact that each of those days off is actually only 80% of a full day mean that I should have the same number of days (the value of which would be 80% of the hours/pay of a full timere holiday days)

Does that make sense and if so what's the right answer!? Really struggling to work it out on my head and I'm sure it's actually quite simple.

Cheers! Dom

I went through this a couple of years ago with forty or so employees. You should get 80% of the hours off, but 100% of the number of days.

If you work 5 days a week, and so does everyone else, then you should still get 21 days off. As you say, each of your days off wil be shorter, but you should still have them.
