Hey folks

So I've got a job interview in about a week and a half for a catering job, they are asking me if I have my Food Safety level 3 certification as I previously worked in catering about 2 years ago. I know for a fact I did a Food Safety cert but honestly can't remember what level, I also regretably have no other paperwork from that job other than my old P45. Last time I spoke to the new job recruiter (yesterday) I told them I would try to dig out the paperwork for them and get back to him.

Does anybody know if there is an easy way of retrieving evidence of a Food Safety certification, would the best course of action to be to contact my previous employer from 2 years ago?

Id have thought you only have a few options:

If this was an external course there maybe records held by the certifying company/organisation.

If it was internal then back to your previous employer

You've almost certainly taken it home and put it somewhere too safe - start looking in your wellies and behind the fish tank.

I can pretty much guarantee it was a Level 2, half a day followed by a multiple choice test. If it was Level 3, you would remember and you would know where the certificate was.

As before, go back to the training company you did it with or just do it again online, only costs about £20 for a level 2. If they genuinely want a level 3 then by now it would be coming up for a refresher (3 years) anyway.

Aye sorted it, phoned them back and explained that it couldn't be found (I've moved house twice since I was working in that place, no doubt Ive shredded it with he rest of the old paperwork for that job), they basically said what you did Tony. If I did have it it would be due a refresher soon anyway, it costs them almost the same to send me on a refresher than it does to get a new certificate anyway.

It's most likely level 2 as you say, it was almost exactly as you described, a couple of hours tuition, followed by an instructional video, then a multiple choice quiz.
