Design Co-ordinator/Technical Co-ordinator @ house builder

Is anyone in one of the positions above, or can give an insight into it them?

Currently a Senior Engineer within the highway sector designing and delivering schemes. I like it but can't see a future, pretty much public sector, so have to wait for someone to die/leave. I want to continue to progress my career for years to come, not stand still.

Thinking that house building is a good industry to be in and my project management skills/experience will transfer well for the position stated.

Pay needs to be enough for about 1.5k of bills a month, then socialising, holidays etc.

I work as a design engineer in the construction industry, so I end up working with a lot of coordinators from many contractors. . By and large they seem to be very angry stressed people. including those in my office

I'd imagine the majority of it is because they're reliant on others providing the relevant info to them, which doesn't always happen, yet it's still their responsibility to ensure everything is done.

Not something I'd like to do, however best of luck to you.

I'm struggling to see why you would want to change from a senior engineering position to a design coordinator - seems a sideways move at best?

I went from engineering to design coordinator as I didn't want to go into site/project management. I miss being on site when office based, it's a different environment completely. I've not regretted it.
