Full time vs apprenticeship

So the Mrs is currently employed full time with a bank. She hates her current role and another job has come up within the same company which she really wants. The new role is technically advertised as an apprenticeship although they stated if successful her pay wont be less and she would keep all the same benefits as the current role. She's had informal chats etc with the new manager before the roles has been published so I think she's in a good position to get it.

The question is... Are there any drawbacks to being an apprentice than full time employee? I.e. Are you entitled to less? Less protected etc?

Only her organisation can answer that based upon their Ts&Cs and her prospective contract.

The benefits to an apprenticeship are the the formal, structured and funded training (paid for from the levy her organisation has to pay to central government).

Being National Apprentice Week as it is, there are plenty of resources on the web to help and no doubt her HR or L&D team will be able to advise too.

In summary, apprenticeships are generally a good thing.
