Overpaid in last salary payment
Discussion
Long story short, I recently finished working for a company having completed a three month notice period in full.
Originally I gave a leave date in my notice letter of a Friday, but within a couple of weeks or so of handing this in I realised I would need to finish a day earlier as we were away for a long weekend. I told HR about this and they told me to speak to my line manager which I did. I wasn't told to put anything in writing and carried on for the next 9 weeks or so without issue. Had my last day, received my leaving card etc, everyone new I was going on the Thursday.
Next day I get a call from my manager at lunch time saying that HR have queried where I am and that I should have been in. Anyway, I've now received a letter stating I've been overpaid for a day as I took holiday that I wasn't entitled to and that they expect repayment within the next 7 days. They've also misquoted how many holidays I should have had remaining at the end of my term but not sure that's relevant.
Anyway, I just wanted to canvas opinion on this, the figure quoted for the day is gross and does not reference any tax or NI that I would have paid on it.
Should I just pay back the figure quoted, or should I knock off 32% and pay that. Or should I go with option 3.....?
For clarity, we're talking about £100 here.

How much did they ACTUALLY overpay you (net of tax and NI)?
That is the only amount you are obliged to pay back to them - assuming their assertion is correct , of course.
So, I would ask them to show their calculations of -
a) how they have arrived at the figure they are quoting and
b) the tax and NI they deducted from it.

Salary calculator says my salary at the time, including sal sac pension came to £106.92 gross. This is the figure they have quoted as owed to them.
According to the same calculator my take home from that is £83.70
Get them to work that out and state it in a letter.According to the same calculator my take home from that is £83.70
