They probably won’t check A’s/GCSE’s. Why are you worried? Was the offer conditional on these, or did you mention something which wasn’t true?

It takes months, so don’t panic.

Some more info here

I’d be surprised if they asked for qualifications and then didn’t check them. We check qualifications depending on the grade of job applied for e.g For an Apprentice we’d check GCSEs, for a Director we’d only be checking degree or professional qualifications.

Last check I had was for a contract position at an IB, not just did they request certificates they phoned my old school... 21 years after I'd left.

Whole process took around 4 weeks.

HSBC is pretty thorough when it comes to this (Ex HSBC of 9 years)... Software Engineer in London.

To combat this later I listed my education as:

Desmond from Poly
5 A-levels (A-C) in X/Y/Z
9 GCSEs (A-C) in X/Y/Z

That way I didnt list one as a B when it was a C and the one that was accurate was the Uni degree... not that it should really matter after 15 years experience.

We had one applicant who had a "C" for GCSE Geography, but had written "D" on his CV.
The checking company let us (and HR) know, so guess they do check.

There was another chap who "didn't work" at a place listed on his CV and also was flagged up as a "Director of a company", turned out he contracted for the business under an umbrella company smile
