Becoming an MOT tester for the council

Hello there,
Hope everyone’s had a good Christmas!
I was wondering if anyone’s a MOT tester for the council or knows anyone that is ?
I’m seriously considering leaving my long term job and trying for the council but not sure,
I’ve never had a interview and inly worked at one place ever since school and I’m in my late 30s ! So it’s a big step to me .

I don’t know which part of God’s own county you are based in, but I have it on good authority that there will soon be a vacancy for a council MOT mechanic in one of the towns to the northeast of Manchester. I can’t give more information at the moment as the last time I spoke to the incumbent, they were still deciding when to hand in their resignation.
