Leaving a job you enjoy to one you wanted In 5 years?
Discussion
Currently I really enjoy my job as a mobile tech in life safety systems, a job I’ve been doing for about 6 years now.
The job I was planning to move into later in my career has just come up and The hiring manager has approached me for a interview, the job is a design role, which I was hoping to move into in my early 30s (currently 26)
I can’t decide if I should move, I’ve been in my current company 18 months, and the new role is at the same company, same office etc.
I’m not sure if this is the “right” time
I really do enjoy the job I do currently but it can be quite physical and the progression does come to a end at my level,
The pay is roughly the same, the new role brings a better car and the chance to work from home
Should I play it safe and stay or take a punt and move over?

Same company, and you have been approached by the hiring manager? It's hardly a punt, is it?
Quite.Just do it. There is nothing to lose except the opportunity. Careers rarely work as you want, you take the opportunities when they arise as they may never present themselves again.
