Have a dilema at work, my team leader is married to the contract manager, step one and two on my chain of command. I have a real issue with my team leader, micromanagement etc and walked out of the office today.
I dont think i would be treated impartially, them being married, so i have no interest in discussing the issue with him as inevitably she would be in on all the details.
Any suggestions?

It is never smart to just walk out. You should put in a grievance in writing and as part of the grievance you should mention that you don't have faith in the normal process as the person hearing it will, while a good person or manager will have cognitive dissonance, as being married to your team leader will have conflicting views and will not deal with it properly. It would be difficult for them not to have bias.

It is inevitable you'll be moving soon enough, one way or another, so I'd polish up your CV. It would be worth contacting your Union (subs would be cheaper than losing a job) or alternatively a half hour free consult with an employment lawyer on basis of using them if you are dismissed or constructively dimissed. Good Luck.

Ta for the, unfortunately predicted, advice.

Not that it counts for much but remaining in the office and dealing with people some of whom were VIPs, while being ‘bloody furious’ wasnt really an option. Plus I work in a potentially dangerous environment, handling those people and if your mind wanders/you’re distracted it can be fatal. (I left the office manned properly)
Still, Looking for someone who will write a good reference...

How aggressive do you want to be? You can lodge a grievance noting that plainly the company will be required to use a different decision maker than her given the clear conflict of interest
