Can't find anything online relating to their structure / hierarchy.

Trying to understand their grading system, Grade 4 and Grade 5.

Discussing a potential role and want to make sure it is at least a step up in terms of responsibility / seniority.

thanks.

I had a recruitment bod, trying to interest me in a contract role in Bolton. On the face of it close to home, but actually those 35 miles would take an hour.
Said id be interested at the right hourly rate.
The max theyd pay was £10 less than i wanted.
Because northwest ?
Hence working in Staffordshire at the moment.

I've not worked for them but know many that have. Grade 4 and 5 are similar to Airbus DS, if you're familiar. Therefore there's some overlap.

Therefore you could be a principal engineer at the top end of grade 4 but could also be at grade 5, which can take you up to lead engineer level. Responsibilities are broadly similar but from what I've discussed, pay is better and they're a better employer.

Having said that, Airbus aren't great at either.

Apologies if you're not an engineer but I don't know anyone in other sectors.

Hope this helps, any more questions then just ask.

I am currently Airbus and used to be Airbus DS.

So grade 5 is broadly equivalent between the two? Little confusing as in Airbus and Airbus DS Band / Grade / Level 4 is Senior to 5, but here it seems the other way around.

So ultimately it seems to be the same level role but called a Senior Manger at MBDA.

When.you get the job, and need a Chartered Manufacturing Engineer and Six Sigma Balck Belt on contract, I'm your man if you sort out the Hourly rate.

Im guessing they'll need SC or DV clearance?
In which case 12 to 20 weeks ?

Depends where you are going, Stevenage or Henlow down here.

Great firm but not great at job specs, I applied, was so keen to work there my bad did not check the job spec closely enough.

Will never work there again and they would never take my CV again, fair enough but they made a crap job sound amazing, which it was certainly not. I was basically mixing paint! The job spec sounded like I was doing a BIT of that and also building missiles, errr no!

They work you hard in production, lots of overtime, but it is rewarding and good money.

But it sounds like you would be in the faceless engineer section in Stevenage towers!!lol!

SC depends on what you are doing I think, but it can take several weeks, quicker now, took me nearly 2 months as the system was awful then.

Funny, when I was permanent at DS it was the other way round. Grade 4 was lower and you had OT, whilst grade 5 had a higher salary scale and responsibilities but no OT.

Jobs in Bolton working within Procurement / Supply Chain.

Grade 5 - Senior Supply Chain Manager, sounds as though it is specialist rather than a leadership role though.

Weird, were you old Airbus DS Portsmouth or Stevenage?

I have a very odd situation with Airbus right now, not to mention here

My fault with MBDA, I technically worked there for a short time, but the job was little more than a gofer, not what i thought it was, so left and they rightly would never take me back for anything else, my bad.

STV. Structures.

It was a while back and was way back when they were eads astrium. They love to change stuff a lot so may have changed since.

Bit late to this but I worked at MBDA (in Stevenage) for a couple of years in the Engineering discipline.

Grade 5 is exec level but no car just bonus with no paid overtime, you'll have a team under you for this level and some reasonable responsibility.
Grade 4 is lower than 5, reasonable level of responsibility but probably no team. You'll get overtime or flexi leave with this grade

Have to say I really enjoyed working for the Company but was in an interesting project with a bit of travel in UK and France. Only real reason I left was location really didn't suit as I had to work away from home during the week. Stevenage and Bristol were both good sites, I only visited the old site in Bolton which I think is long gone now.

Stevenage had a real age gap with lots of young grads and quite a few people approaching retirement, if you were between these ages ( I was) you were in a small minority. Not sure if the other sites were quite the same.

Would certainly recommend working for them, came away pretty impressed by what they as a Company did.

Thanks for that it helps a lot, to get some impartial feedback not just what they "tell" me. Location would probably be the same, either relocate or working away from home.
