Job put on “hold”
Discussion
I was going through the interview process for a software development role at a large US software company and I passed the phone interview and then the coding and maths test and was scheduled for another interview. I got an email from the recruiter saying that unfortunately the role had been put on “hold” and he will contact me should the position arise again. Is that a nice way of saying they either decided to not hire new developers or they simply hired somebody else? Is it worth pursuing? I have other interviews coming up so will focus on those. It seemed a pretty good place to get into.
I was put forward for a job last year. I was shortlisted then told that it was put on hold. I assumed that it meant they had found who they wanted. Turns out that 5 months later I get a call for an interview for the job. It really was put on hold. They wanted to hire a new manager and didn't want to interview for my role until he/she had been appointed. I went for the interview and didn't get it although I would have turned it down anyway. The role wasn't for me but putting roles on hold does happen.
