Evening all,

My Mrs is currently a civil servant who runs 6 sites across the Midlands and South Wales, total of about 22 staff she is responsible for, as well as direct line management of 7. She is basically the one who sits at the top of the civil service chain in this little enclave of sites.

She's fed up of being paid truly buttons due to her job being wrongly graded in the Civill Service, so is looking further afield at similar Ops Mgmt or junior Proj Mgmt roles.

I guess a bit of an issue is that seemingly 80% of roles in the local area (Midlands - near Rugby) are all logistics based which doesn't really appeal.

Would anyone be able to recommend a recruiter (who doesn't fit the stereotypes!) who specialises in these types of roles, as well as someone to cast an eye over her CV? I've had a look but my industry is significantly different, so I might be wide of the mark.

Thanks in advance smile

What does running 6 sites entail? It comes across as FM to me.

Hi there,

She coordinates all of the activity of the various subteams, ensures that other subdepts within those sites have direction and milestones then keeps tabs on them, deals with the list of incoming tasks from other departments and delegates where appropriate. She also runs projects (eg has just sorted the Office365 rollout) and sorts out the list of jobs against the list of staff. She's also the civil service policy expert and is their recruiter / interviewer.

I'll speak to her again tonight and get her to expand smile

Sounds like general management type stuff; plenty of that available.

Happy to pass comment on her CV with that in mind; just PM me.

Have to admit that when I first read it, it came across as Facilities Mgmt to me. We have somebody who could be described as doing a similar role (9 sites across the UK, directly line-manages the Office Manager at each site, is responsible for office/tea/department moves, liaising with Contractors, reporting to SMT on each site)

When you say she sorted out the Office365 rollout is she an IT Project Manager?

ETA Given that the Civil Service has roughly 73 billion policies which change every 17 seconds which ones is she an expert on? biggrin
