Course fee when leaving
Discussion
Hi all,
I've accepted an offer for a new role at a different company. I'm currently part way through the second year of a college course that my current employer has paid for, 2.5K per year. The new company have offered to give me the time to attend and pay for the time I am there, but will not fund the remainder of the course if my company seeks the costs from me.
I've checked my contract and it states that I should have signed a learner agreement for each year stating X percentage to pay back at X time periods if i leave the job, I've never been made to sign any learner agreement.
I'm about to hand my notice in tomorrow, once I hand it in, can they then make me sign the agreement backdated or anything like that?
This is a huge billion dollar company, so I'm hoping they wouldn't chase it, I could do without losing the 5K before starting a new job.

Ha ha! The ones with the most money are the ones most likely to screw you down over every last penny, at least when it suits them. When the OH went to work for one of the "big four" they wouldn't move by £500 on the salary but would happily piss away hundreds a week on train fares so she could go to London for meetings that could have been done via Skype for nothing.Ellb123 said:

The secret is to go for a job you want enough to not mind if they hold you to your obligations and just see it as a bonus if they don't.Gassing Station | Jobs & Employment Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
