I’m assuming this would be the right forum to post this in but need a bit of help if at all possible.
I’d thought that when you start working PAYE again that you automatically are unregistered for def assessment but this doesn’t seem to be the case and the filing deadline is coming up and I don’t wish to get a fine.
My situation is I was self employed for the 2017/2018 tax year which I filed a return for, then for the 2018-2019 tax year I was self employed up from April to the start of September then PAYE from the start of September onwards, I still can provide all details of income etc, what would be the best way for me to proceed?, any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. You need to file a return for 2018/19. If you filed one previously you'll already have login details I assume?
2. The return will have different sections for your self-employment part and PAYE part. Both need to be completed.
3. It asks you somewhere in the return if your self-employment finished during 2018-19. You need to complete this to avoid having to fill in a return for 19-20.

I suspect the Finance forum might be a better place to post this question in.

It does, thanks, I had an accountant file on my behalf last time, I still have my UTR number and all old payslips so should be ok I'm hoping, if not I will get them to do it again for me.

As said above, you need to do a self assessment. You (or your accountant) need to complete the self employed section and then complete the section on PAYE earnings using the info provided on your P60.
You may still be required to complete a self assessment in subsequent years but if all your income is on PAYE then it is quite easy based on your P60.

You might struggle to get a new Government Gateway ID and password before the end of the month. If you've not personally filed them before then, given the short timescale, I would just get your Accountant to do it again for you.

That would be the best course of action. They will have all the access codes and should be able to file quite quickly for you.

(Guess what I've been doing all day today smile)
