As the title suggests, would I be mad to consider leaving a big company lets call them A, to work for a company that Company A contracts in? I am currently working for company A and the job, benefits, salary are pretty good. Its a company that I cant see being in any trouble for many years but its mundane and I am bored. My department is pretty much a dead duck. Unless some one leaves ( very rare) or some one dies( rarer) then there is no where to go unless you leave roles. It is a very good role.

A position has come available working for the contracted company from company A, the salary is a few k more. I do how ever know from working for company A that these contracts are put out to tender every 5 years,

So im asking should I stay where I am with company security or move to the contracted company for more money but the downside in 5 years it could be over.

Company A is a very good job but there is no where to go.

Hang in there. Corona virus is coming.

Think of the impact World War One had on the promotion prospects of young Lieutenants.

You'd be better off looking for a move within company A if you like the stability but you're bored. Although I'd say "looking for career advancement" rather than "bored". See what other jobs exist on an internal jobs board or advertised outside, understand your skills gap, maybe invest in some training in your own time.
