The virus, how does your company treat you?
Discussion
Got to say I am thoroughly impressed with the stance of the firm I work for. Recently moral has been low, experience lacking and general quality of output questionable (lots of rework to get stuff right). i hope when this has all blown over employees will take more care in the work they do and improve quality of output and generally respect the place more.
The company is following gov guidelines.
Farmed who they can home to work from home, people have even been taking desktops.
Those who have to self isolate for whatever reason, on special paid leave (full pay).
Those who have the disease on sick pay (full pay).
I also really hope people dont take the mick! I appreciate that I do work for a multinational who can afford (currently) to do this.

I have just put this up on another thread.
My employer has put this letter out to those with underlying illnesses;

The majority of employees are only entitled to SSP.
I replied to your original post but thought I would post here as well as it is a shorter thread. So your employer sent this letter to specific employees where you work?My employer has put this letter out to those with underlying illnesses;
The majority of employees are only entitled to SSP.
I'm asking as I think it could be a public relations disaster for the company and possibly a breach of employment law.

That’s terrible. So sorry . Ffs
If the latter, do you expect companies to pay 3 months in full to cover people self-isolating?

I've edited it as requested.

The company have already received several hundred 1 star google reviews in the last few hours. Except stories in the Daily Mail tomorrow. Followed by a public hanging and flogging.
Hence why I was asking about the letter you posted - it seems a proforma letter as it doesn't have an addressee blanked out. Are you certain that letter was sent today to specific employees where you work? If yes, you might want to point them in the direction of Aviemore Hotel and the looming PR disaster and suggest they rethink their approach.
If you are not certain the letter has been sent, it might be best to remove it, just in case.
Some shocking stuff in this thread and I've no idea what the long term impact is on our country and economy but it doesn't look great right now.
I was sent guidelines for my staff today, I didn't think it was great but luckily my staff are ok but knew some department heads would have problems. Compared to some stuff here my company are doing a great job.

I know someone that works for a medical supply company, not essential medical supplies that will be needed during the Coronavirus pandemic. They have been left in the dark. All the office staff are away working remotely from home but the production staff some of whom are pregnant and older are being told to come in as normal and that was that
For a medical supply company they are really not taking it seriously and seems to care more about money than the health and well being of their workers. The person while not vulnerable lives with someone who is in the at risk group. Diabetes and other heart issues.
I've told them to get the hell out and not go back in but apparently the place had a 'deep clean' which would indicate someone was displaying symptoms, the clean was done by their contracted cleaner and there were several complaints by other staff that it wasn't a deep clean at all.
It's amazing how some businesses really aren't taking this pandemic seriously and think they can just carry on as normal putting their staff and their elderly and at risk family members in danger for a few quid. If they self isolate then they'll go from a decent wage to SSP.
If there's one thing to come out of this is how flimsy some peoples employment contracts are that their employer can simply throw them under a bus when they like.

This letter was given to those employees that have come forward with 'underlying health issues'. Recipient names were filled in as required, most of which are the sole earners, rent their homes and have children. How are they supposed to survive in SSP for 12 weeks?Madness!
Work for the police.
If you are self isolating you take your laptop and mobile home (we are told to take it home on rest days as well in case we can't come in). You'll be given enquires you can do over the phone etc.
If you are ill, it's the usual sick pay (full pay for six months and then six months half pay) for me.
