My wife works for her sister who's business closed last week (hairdressers). Neither are clued up on this at all. How does the sister (employer) furlough the staff? She can't get hold of her accountant whom she would normally ask. Thanks.

So I've read through that and it's mentions a portal to claim through. Still none the wiser 😁 Anyone a little more IT savvy than me could lead me by the nose to it please?

At the moment, the main thing you need to do is to get written agreement from the staff to go on furlough leave

The system thereafter is not yet in place, everyone is waiting for the portal and further instruction

It’s possible that wages might have to be paid before you can recover the money from the government

Furloughing has always been a thing. Getting money back form the Government hasn't. They are two different things, and whilst the furloughing bit is established, the compensation bit isn't, yet.
