Already working notice now furlough ?
Discussion
Hi all any help appreciated …..
I was made redundant on Jan 14th and am working my 6 months notice but the company now say they can't pay me and wish to put me on furlough along with existing employees?
Prob is the furlough pay is lot less than the contractual notice pay i'm legally entitled to ?
Do I have to accept Furlough in replacement of my contractual notice period or can the company accrue the additional owed monies until they can afford to pay it ?
Thanks for any assistance all I know its hard for us all at this time ! Stay safe...………….

Its the same as any other debt. They legally owe you money, if they don't pay then they are in breach, and you can take them to court/make a deal where they pay you interest on delays and so on.So as long as they don't go under, think you will be fine.
As above, they can't force you to "furlough", you have to sign a document accepting it. If you accept, it's legal, also it must be a minimum 3 weeks I think. The advantage for the company is that they can reclaim some money from the Government, so it might make the difference between some companies going bust (and staff could then get nothing) or staying afloat, and their employees getting the reduced amount.
