We find ourselves in unprecedented times and this is already having a profound impact upon the job market, with still more fallout predicted.

Whilst our health should be our primary concern, good physical and mental health are supported by a fulfilling life, which for many means being in meaningful and gainful employment.

I thought therefore that sharing a few thoughts/reminders, none of them novel, that may be helpful to some.

If you’re in what you think is a stable secure role, that’s fantastic. My only advice here would be to not rest on your laurels, as there is potential for things to turn on a sixpence. Review your own performance and keep developing to ensure you’re relevant and as up to date as you can be, which may mean undertaking refresher or further developmental training. Continue to show your value and how seriously you take your role.

If you’re one of a growing number whose futures are less stable or secure, then the above also applies, but you may also need to consider a move in to one of the more secure roles in your organisation or indeed in to a new more secure industry.

My top 3 tips therefore would be:

Enrol on developmental training to enhance your qualifications and experience to make you more attractive to a future employer

Do your research on your own industry or one that you may have an interest in in order to identify potentially more secure and stable roles and improve your networking around those

And finally, review and refresh your CV, as this will be your primary means of communication with any potential employer. It’s essential that this is a top drawer product as competition is likely to be more fierce than ever.

I hope that little helps; and I’m sure tons of other folk on here will have some helpful words of wisdom to share for the benefit of others too.

Good luck and good health everyone!
