Chinese National - Employment Opportunities in UK
Discussion
PH experts and observers,
At some point in the future I will be moving back to the UK with my wife who is a Chinese national. The timing is unconfirmed but hey... in the current climate who knows... so we are thinking about what opportunities there may be in the UK for her. I guess some background would help:
- Bachelor and Masters Degree in Child Psychology and Education
- Currently a lecturer in Shanghai teaching the above
- Also hold Teach Chinese as Foreign Language qualification
- Various (China) teaching qualifications for various ages
- Great English language
- Assume no barriers with visa or NI
I understand that one step of this dance will be to engage with NARIC to get her qualifications translated and be given a UK equivelant.
Obviously education interests her but with qualifications not being UK based (or maybe even not UK recognized) this may be a challenge in schools/colleges without considerable time investment for more courses and qualifications? University would be a first choice. Similar to education - working at education centres would be of interest or, likewise, so would working within training companies developing/delivering courses. Considering her experience and language capabilities working across the international study domain would be great. Due to her purely education background in China one thing I wonder is whether she would even be able to get a foot in the door in the UK at a company in this kind of role?
Would anyone here have been in a similar position and could share some experience? Or if you yourself are in a position where you could see some value in the above profile being of use I would be interested to know any thoughts on the matter.
Replies appreciated as always.

Many years ago, when we lived in the UK my wife did a job for the Mod, teaching Norwegian to Navy personnel, they had several people on rotation at a base in N Norway, she was contacted by the Embassy, great job, one on one teaching, and the came to our house, they employed here through my limited company.
There are lots of left field possibilities, I'd look at language teaching to any relevant companies near your home.
