Hi, i appreciate some help.

I started a new job on 30th April. On the 17th April I received a shielding letter to shield for 12 weeks. I asked my employee if i would get sick pay they advised no.
So i made a claim to universal credit for statutory sick pay.

I received my wages on the 1st of May for work completed in April.

I have just read my expected payment from UC and it is zero, as my wages have pushed me over the threshold, yet i haven't worked since the 17th April and now expect no SSP until the end of June, 9 weeks.

It just doesn't seem fair as the Gov advise SSP from first day of shielding..

Ah as in you started and were not on the PAYE at the correct time. This is quite a fundamental flaw in the scheme.

I don't know the reasons but they advised no SSP no furlough. I then claimed via universal credit as advised by citizens advice, yet now entitled to anything. I am going to appeal.
