Looks like we can see how the Govt is going to push people back to work.

Flexible Furlough from 01 July.
From 01 August the employer has to pay NIC and Pension.
From 01 Sept Govt pay max of 70% of Salary (so now a max of £2,190pcm)- employer is required to top up to 80%
From 01 Oct that reduces to 60%.... Employer remains liable up to 80% and the scheme closes on 31 Oct.

Now we will see the true levels of redundancies over the coming months (I have already been involved in a number for a number of different firms so will see how much that increases)

I'm predicting north of 1 million additional unemployed by September. Beyond that? Crystal ball.

Indeed. It's about time the nation gets back to work to try and reduce the impact of the recession we are heading into.

Totally agree, I know quite a few people on furlough with and without top up who have no desire to return until they really have to.

It seems everyone thinks they should be the last one back.

To an extent however how long are we going to be paying for it?

Hopefully every last one of the workshy piss takers will lose their jobs.

Not that it will be such a problem for them, I expect they'll just join all the other piss takers already gaming the benefit system with their 16 hour per week non-jobs.

just to balance that, I know a fair few (me included!) who are desperate to get back to work.

Desperate to get back to work, hated furlough but it was that or redundancy. So it was a better choice, now job hunting and having some success, not quite across the finish line yet though

Id be pleasantly surprised by 1 mil. Id say 2.5 - 3.

We can come back at the end of the year and see what it actually pans out at.

I hope that is just a dig at all those on furlough who don't want to return and not a generic dig at all on furlough including those who want to go back to work but can't through no choice of theirs (ie. people like me....)

My workload has increased due to Furlough, can't believe this is going to carry on now till November.

I can see a massive us Vs them mentality forming between overworked employees and those who are on a paid holiday at their expense.

Except a large number of "them" are likely to not be returning to work............. We will start to see in due course given the announcements noted in the OP and the 30 day minimum consultation period..........

Kinda resent the paid holiday remarks. I'd love to be at work but there's no work for me. I'm likely to be made redundant and have been applying for jobs without even getting a "thank you for applying"

Also to add, those going out to work have been outdoors more than most on furlough who have abided by the rules. Not sure I've had many holidays like that!

Correct.

Though im not an employee, said overworked employees at least have a job. In time they will mostly, be thankful for that as they watch their collegues get laid off come the end of July.

Have to agree, I got furloughed April, SWMBO is still working so I am in charge of childcare (5+9),

I am hoping I still have a role to go back to, one thing looking at some of the comments on here, How many staff will resent the furloughed people coming back and the snide remarks, certainly it will be interesting to see what is said and how companies deal with it.

I feel most sorry for anyone who has had to keep working but still gets made redundant later in the year and will be competing with people who have had 6 months to learn new skills.

As an employer, who would you take on - the guy who is exhausted and fatigued after 6 months of trying to keep things afloat, or the chap who has spent 6 months skilling up?

95% at least of people on Furlough are not spending their days learning new skills....
