I was going to go 1st August to France (Alps). I cancelled my plans and ended up staycationing.
It was obvious to be honest - Belgium etc had suddenly been placed on the quarantine list and cases were rising in France with mention that France was next.
Alot of businesses have struggled since March and to think 'im going I deserve a holiday's knowing your employer needs some sort of thinking about them under these extraordinary times - you cant expect your employer to say oh ok no worries I'll pay for your two week extra holiday.

I think anyone willing to get on a plane at the moment is gambling with a lot more than just an increased risk of quarantine upon return.
I really don’t understand the desire right now. We were meant to be in Florida at the moment, but obviously aren’t, I’ve no desire at all to replace that with a trip to mainland Europe.

It wasn't even remotely unforseen. We booked a UK holiday cottage back in May, largely for this reason. I couldn't give a toss about the virus and I still think you have to be slightly mental to get on a plane to another country this year.

Millions of us have reluctantly opted to reign in our travel plans to avoid such issues, my mrs waved farewell to a £1500 airfare just when all this was kicking off (Australia actually announced a 2 week quarantine while she would have been in the air for what was supposed to be a 3 week family visit)
we had a short break in the peak district recently... Had a couple of incidences of Mr big trying to big talk his big arse and big arsed family into the strickly-pre-booked-only attractions. I wonder who these people are? You often see them on holidays, trying to impose their will. Small business owners who "get their way" most of the time?

Does the vast majority have the ability to WFH??TX.
It may be the case on this forum that the majority are either IT nerds or high level management, so they can WFH.
But in the real world i highly doubt the majority are in these types of jobs??

2 of the people in work have gone on holiday one last week one this week both to turkey. The tales of the one who is back about the restriction wearing a mask in the plane for 4hrs or anytime outside of the resort its not something im keen to rush to into tbh. I so want turkey to be added so the other person has too isolate for 2 weeks just because of said person attitude.
The person response too the question posed what if turkey gets added the reply who is going to check and im coming in.
The rule with us is you take the risk you either keep holidays back to use in that cases or no pay. Personally think its pretty selfish to be going on holiday abroad right now not least for your co workers who have decided too not go/have cancelled plans etc but that individuals response to this.

Well all the office wallahs could in theory WFH. If you work in a shop I guess not. What about the OP can this person WFH? If so were they offered that as an alternative?

No he can't WFH, he's a tyre fitter for one of the well known companies. TX.
The reason I asked whether any clear rules are in place is as follows;
Before going on holiday, friend phones area manager to discuss, concerned that there is a potential risk of quarantine. Area manager tells friend to go and enjoy his holiday and not to worry. After all, ha says, employee's who were in Spain when their quarantine was imposed got paid. Shame he never got that in writing, verbal contract and all that...
So he went on holiday. He worked the entire time his depot was open during the lock down period and pretty much kept the place going single handedly.
