Return of equipment - acknowledgment?

My employment is ending on 31/08. Because we were working from home for a while before being furloughed I have some company equipment at my house which I’m obviously going to return.

Is there any point drawing up some sort of letter for the HR manager to sign indicating that all kit has been returned and is in good condition? If so, do you have any recommendations for the wording of such a letter?

At my employers we have a checklist which the manager has to complete and sign as a record of what equipment, passes etc. was received back from a departing employee.
I have previously given a copy of this to the individual for their records.
