Just wondering. I have a good relationship with my employer, HR and my line manager.

However, I now have a serious medical condition that may mean a lot of time off work (possibly very long term) and without boring everyone to death this also means Mrs21 who works in the same place also has to work at home which is being seen as a massive "favour" and "must not tell anyone else". I am being "risk assessed" on Monday and in conversation my line manager asked if I had any letters from my GP etc.

I have a pile (literally) of letters to my GP from my consultant with every detail and diagnosis etc. Some of these contain things I would rather not share with my workplace as they are not relevant and I have absolutely no confidence in their confidentiality once shared.

I assume I'm not obliged to share them, should I refuse and say only with the occ. health Doctor which will be the next inevitable step?

Or is that just being a PITA?

You’re entitled to privacy and confidentiality and don’t want to share your personal medical stuff with a non qualified person. That ought to be understandable. Say you’re happy to share details with Occ Health. They then provide a summary to management or just their opinion on your health situation.

I had to give my employers permission to approach my GP about my health. When I received the permission slip they wanted unrestricted access. I changed the form so they could only get information about the matter in hand! Suggest you do the same.
