Your funny or unusual reasons for being sacked?

I didn't get the sack.
It turned out I was the only member of staff in a 450 people organisation who paid into a union.
So when invited to a disciplinary I contacted the union. And they sent their regional negotiator.
Who was a hard faced woman, who had spent years fighting for the rights of the workers. Given that I had management status, my boss and HR were somewhat surprised by my representative. Who proceeded to run rings around my boss, and HR.
I didn't get the sack, and my boss was subsequently retrained. His perception of my performance failed to spot a man who was having a mental breakdown, due to overload.
When my duties were reorganised they found I was quite capable of doing them. My only failure was an inability to say no to a bully who kept dropping more work on me, and changing deadlines.

Never been sacked, but i've been harassed to the point of leaving, by managers who wanted me gone so desperately that they kept on throwing mud until something stuck.
My sin? being too good at my job, shining a little too much, naivety of how things really work.
After all these years i've finally clocked it, hard work doesn't pay, it paints a target on your back, throwing people under a bus is how most people get on these days.

I worked in a shop and they did these personal development portfolios where you had to write down at least 2 moments of customer service where you went above and beyond... A WEEK. I had the morning shift and so were never many opportunities to go above and beyond so i constantly got flak from my manager for not "doing enough". I didnt get the annual pay rise because my development during said time was never to a level acceptable to my manager.
During sale time, a colleague brought a customer to my till stating a watch (which has no sale sign) was in fact for sale and was reduced to an amount that required managerial permission which he already had.
we were good friends at the time so i had no issue not believing him, and so put the watch through the till at discount stating managerial discretion.
Turns out, the manager apparently did not know and now I was in trouble for using the managerial discretion discount on an item not eligible.
Cue investigation, where my "friend" said he didnt say a word and i did it all myself, coupled with my poor development portfolio i was given an option to leave or be sacked. I chose leave.
I am so glad I did, that place sucked the life out of you.

I recently had to deal with a client where two employees came into work slightly battered and one had no tie, after spending the previous night (until the early hours because they didn't make it home) in the bar. One lodged a formal grievance that he had been attacked - we called him Tie Man as he still had his.... So we investigated. And obtained CCTV footage, which quite clearly showed Tie Man launching himself over the table at the other bloke, grabbing his tie and dragging him back the other way at which point it slipped off (I think they both had their ties on quite loosely as they were in the bar) and he fell off the table whereupon Tie Man punched him a couple of times. Other bloke then just sort of got up and strolled out of the door.... Still no idea why he didn't complain and Tie Man did, but either way it took about 10 seconds of showing Tie Man the CCTV footage before he decided to resign............
