My brother has been running a small business for the last few years supplying the retail and hospitality industry. That is now over since COVID has killed these industries and unlikely to ever pick back up to make it financially viable for him.

Before this business he has a degree in Business and 3 years of office experience but has been running his own business for the last 4 years, wants to do something else now but not sure what.

What careers or areas are in demand and can be achieved by not having to go Uni to do a degree but can be done at home self studying?

Someone mentioned to me the energy industry is growing and crying out for people bit not sure what area and what skills to get? He wants to stay office based

This is a question that's bound to result in pages of ideas but only your brother can answer it.

What lights his fire? What interests him? Is he driven by wealth or the worthiness of his work?

Energy is a very broad church. Selling it can be a good earner but is very tough going. If that's of interest to him, I would suggest he looks into the support that's needed and emerging to help companies become 'EV ready' - that being to ensure that when staff all start arriving to work in their Electric Vehicles, there's sufficient infrastructure for charging and that it's not going to cost a fortune.

I'd also suggest he doesn't full abandon the hospitality sector. At some stage over the next 6 to 12 / 24 months, we'll have either health with Covid or learned how to live with it and some modicum of normality will return despite what the naysayers are predicting. At that point, with fewer businesses in the supply chain, those that remain will be in a good position. So look to mothball it but not abandon.
