Covid 19 - Wages
Discussion
Hi all, not sure if this is the correct place to post this but hopefully can get some advice.
My step daughter tested positive for Covid on 19th November, which meant two households had to self isolate for 14 days as per NHS website.
Luckily I can work from home but my partner (pharmacy worker) and stepson (retail) were both told they would be on SSP, unless they were contacted by track and trace. Now it says on the positive result email you 'may' be contacted but we weren't. Therefore they have lost out on about £600 combined at a time they could really do with it. There is no way to contact test and trace so it seems pot luck whether they get in touch.
To top it off on the 26th my stepdaughter received an email to say there had been a lab error and the result was false. My partner called the number on the email (NHS) and was told they had not heard of such an email and to treat as positive. A massive f up all round as we found out via the news a few days later that around 1300 people had in fact been given a false positive.
Is there anyway for us to get this money back, or is it a case of take it on the chin. Thanks

Also Copy the letter / Email to your MP.
Hate to be all COMPENSAYSHUN but as a direct result of their f
k up you are now out of pocket. EDIT : Also the Daily Mail would love this story given they are being very anti Government etc at the moment. They might buy the story from you.

Who do you want to get the money back from? The employer didn't get any work from the affected employees and seemingly paid appropriately given the circumstances.
The employers policy is that they will cover full pay if contacted by track and trace. My issue is that it's pot luck who is contacted. There should be a way for my partner to ensure contact from track and trace so that she isn't out of pocket the best part of two weeks wages through no fault of her own. Also the government has a scheme in place to ensure low paid workers don't lose out if they are told to self isolate (which would apply to my stepson) but again only if you are directly contacted by track and trace. The whole thing is a mess, i know someone who worked on the track and trace for 5 months and made 3 calls, there was a programme on the BBC also where it was reported many others did the same.

it's a waste of time my son 21 got covid.. 3 weeks ago, myself and wife and daughter all contacted via t&t applied for the payment council today sent a letter apparently we don't meet the "criteria"...so all 4 of us isolated for two weeks only for the local council to say NO! ....so they wont be getting there rent payment in jan. Also the government has a scheme in place to ensure low paid workers don't lose out if they are told to self isolate (which would apply to my stepson) but again only if you are directly contacted by track and trace.
