Call Out Rota (again)
Discussion
You may remember a while back I had some issues with getting paid for a call out rota at work, it got sorted (eventually) and its been ticking over for a year or so with us sorting the payments out every couple of months.
The project is due to end at some point this year but i got an email this morning saying thanks but we dont need you any more, they are getting the chap in their dept who previously didnt want to do it, who now wants to get involved. Its a separate department and I was only brought on as I have particular skills.
I dont have anything in formally in writing regarding the arrangement other than the rates, but, cards on the table I want to keep it going until it goes.
Seems mad to change it now with less than a year to go, have I any comeback or can I expect any notice ? Any leg to stand on in law or just graciously hand it over without a word ?
I dont rely on the money but I have been saving it, plus dont like being treated like that, a short email saying thanks but dont need you any more.

Sadly I don't think you have any comeback. It doesn't sound like it was contractual and they can offer it to whoever they want.
Yeah, pretty much my understanding, been nice whilst it lasted but not just caving without at least a token battle, morally its a pretty shady thing to do I think, am hoping they provide some notice, if I were to decide I no longer wished to be in the rota I would have done them that courtesy so they could find a replacement, so I expect similar consideration in return.Gassing Station | Jobs & Employment Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
