I'm thinking of becoming gas safe registered and was wondering what is the best route in?

As a bit of background i already develop property and carry out most of the work myself apart from getting in the required professionals to sign off gas and electrics.

I am competent at plumbing, and will often fit a complete central heating system on the water side and then get an engineer in to pipe up gas into boiler, fit flu and commission.

I wouldn't have to start from scratch, and dare say I have a good amount of knowledge in how boilers operate.

The Internet is littered with companies offering home learning and assessment type courses but I am sceptical and don't want to throw money at scams or useless courses. It would have to be a home learning and assessment type route as i have a family and work commitments so going back to college is out of the question.

The aim is to carry out work during downtime and in between jobs, as well as being able to install boilers on my own properties.

Any info as to the best route into this given my circumstances would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

contact your local training providor, you will be required to complete a portfolio of work, preferably on site, on various gas appliances. some of the better training centres have a network of tradesmen who are willing to take a trainee on, unpaid, to gather the required evidence.
