So I had to take last 5 days (mon-Fri) off work, hit by a gastric bug last weekend that annihilated me for all last week, not helped by a script from the doc where I discovered I can't tolerate PPI drugs which made things worse mid week for a day or two.
I can self certify for last week, this is in the HR policy but if I need to go off sick again this week, having returned to work tomorrow for one day (I plan to work from home) can I self certify again or do I need a note from the doctor?
This is not in the policy and HR, like everything else, has been outsourced to Poland, where getting a simple answer is an uphill struggle.
I should be OK but my guts are still not right, I might end up having to sh*t on a stick and have the path lab see what I ingested whist out on site (I consult in the sewage industry) Whilst I can pad out a couple of days at home, my role is typically field based which I simply can't manage yet as I ain't wearing a nappy
Is there a defined rule for this or does it come down to company policy?. I have 12 months+ sick leave on full pay so money is not an issue but I do have some really important work due in March that I need to be on my A game for, so being down now for a week or two is the best option if necessary.

You could self certify again.
But I'd suggest that you don't ! IF you are still sick , I'd suggest that a single instance of sick looks better on a record that lots of small self certified.
Plus if you are doubting now . .then i suspect you aren't really well.
Speak to your GP and get a "Fit note" that says when you are allowed back to work
( apparently they are Fit notes now ... not Sick notes ! )
