Are they fun, or are they a pain in the backside.

Some of them have no rhyme or reason to the job application

One of the latest HR fads

A couple of years, they will have moved on to the next fashionable assessment.

Thomas has been going for years, it’s hardly a latest fad! You should be able to view the results, just ask for a copy but be aware that it’s normative, so your strengths and weaknesses are marked against your behavioural traits, not the average persons’. It’s a pretty low end test and in my experience not very useful.

At a former job we used them for hiring. I found them to be usefu guidance for an interview, exposing possible additional strengths and potential issues that could be expored in the interview process. It helped expose one candidate who, while having the right qualifications, simply wouldn't have fit with the team and company working culture at all, preferring a lot more structure than we typically had. The management team all had to do it so we had a personal control, when I did mine it felt pretty accurate and it clarified a few things. This was maybe 8/9 years ago now.
