I'm at the early stages of a recruitment process for a role in Dublin. Initial discussions suggest the end client wants the role holder to be a permanent resident in Ireland. Is that possible for a UK national these days, and could I take a UK registered car with me?

Yes, is the short answer. UK and Ireland have preserved Common Travel Arrangement following Brexit so the nationals of either country can live and work freely in the other. I believe that your UK Social Security even travels with you if you move there. You'll need to take advice on the tax arrangements as this might differ depending upon what you see as being 'permanent'.

Not sure on registering your car but would be advisable to do so - there are still a few outliers who take umbrage at the overt presence of the English.

Go. Enjoy..... and boy will you enjoy it :-)

Do your research, Dublin is ridiculously expensive for property and the traffic is awful. I did a year working in the UK for a firm with a Dublin HQ and went over around once a month or so. The taxi ride from the airport to Sandyford was more than the air fare and could take up to two hours, particularly if heading back for an evening flight.
