I'm curious.....

I have over the last many years gone through recruitment agencies to get jobs. I have been at the final stage - that is, passed two interviews and down to the final 2 or 3 - many times. The recruitment agency has been fully supportive throughout the process but when I "came second" I get the call to say "you did really well but...." and then I never hear from them again. I know that recruitment consultants are generally less trustworthy than Everest window salesmen but I'm interested if anyone has ever has an agency back them after failing to land the role ?

It seems that recruitment agencies dump you if you fail at the first role - but coming second (out of dozens) surely means that you are worth supporting and promoting ? I

Back them in what way? they put you forward for a role and would have pushed you to the client. You didn't get the job, what do you want them to do now?

They get paid on success, if you suit another role they'll be banging your door down, other than that they'll go for whoever else fits.

It might sound harsh, but they're recruitment consultants not counsellors
