Buying office furniture
Discussion
I need to kit out a new office. It's an attractive space and I don't really want to fill it with generic office crap. I'd love to install some antique furniture, 1930s office chairs and the like.
What are the rules on this kind of thing? Will I be opening myself up to future prosecution if an employee gets a bad back? I know there are workplace safety obligations but this office will only be a part-time work place for most people.
Alternatively, can anyone suggest some suppliers of modern-spec stuff that doesn't look horrible.

I'm curious as to why you want to kit it out with antique furniture (as opposed to modern). if it was your house i could understand it but the people who will be using it on a day-to-day basis will probably prefer something modern and ergonomic. What are the rules on this kind of thing? I think HASAWA 1974 and PUWER 1998 are the bits of legislation you need to comply with. If staff weren't comfortable at work then you would have to carry out a DSE assessment to check whether the furniture needed changing

I will run it by the team of course, but I think they'd generally be in agreement...we're all fans of a similar aesthetic and it will make the environment much more interesting to work in.I think HASAWA 1974 and PUWER 1998 are the bits of legislation you need to comply with. Thanks, I'll check out the regs.

the owner is a massive car nut and they do all sorts of bespoke designs to your requirements.
Thanks but looking at it this is exactly the kind of thing I wanted to avoid the owner is a massive car nut and they do all sorts of bespoke designs to your requirements.

But what about their reproduction range? Seems like just what you're after:

Thanks yeah I was far from being specific enough. You're right that looks like a good option for a period office, but I have a modern office that I want to furnish in a contemporary style but with some vintage pieces.
My architect has suggested https://www.scp.co.uk which is really good and I found a source for Eames office chairs so I think I'm good now.
