Hi,
I feel like I need a new direction in life, and I'd like to learning a building type trade I think I could excel in.

What sort of trade would a novice like me, that has NO issue with hard work, BUT can have a little difficulty in learning new things (long story, but due to health reasons) could I consider?
Then I say 'I have difficulties with learning new things' I just take a little longer to pick new things up, but once I get the hang of it, I'd like to think I'm as good as the person next to me.

Thanks

How quick do you want to learn will go some way to dictate which trade you choose, a carpenter/electrician/plumber sort of trade will all require college courses for a few years if you want o be taken seriously, trades such as a plasterer/tape &jointer/dryliner & tacker you can learn on the job and no college course needed, there are courses available for these but not worth the time/expense.

Where are you based? there is a drylining/plastering company in Wiltshire that are advertising for trainees

Hi,
I live in the south of Birmingham, on the boundary of Solihull.
due to time, finances and other commitments, I wouldn't be able to do any sort of college course, as much as I'd like to!

I work on the roads now after Covid stopped my old Job.
I've never done anything like this before and the training is on the job.
Not quite a trade but it's manual hard work and you may well be able to take it and run your own business later on with it.
Maybe give that a go, give HW Martin a go or Highway Fencing for crash barrier work.

I think the usual trades (sparks, carpentry, plumbing, etc) will usually need a few years as an apprentice and/or college

How about something creative, where you don't need qualifications - photography, car valeting (detailing) etc.
