Hi,

I have applied for an Asda delivery driver post ( Scotland) and need to have a criminal record check.

Does anyone know which level of check is required and if I have to pay for it myself or does Asda pay for it?

Many Thanks

Great. Can you remember if it was basic, standard or enhanced?

No idea. I just had to give basic details to my manager who passed it on to the company that did it.

I’m assuming you’ve got something to hide wink.

Hope they are more thorough than one of the ASDA in my town. They had some paramilitary leader who served a sentence for murder working as a supervisor and few years ago some guy was caught inviting children as young as 12 back to his house for who knows what. Store knew he was a nonce and had previous convictions.

I think Asda, use mensa and MI5 to do a combined intelligence DV test, and only.employ you, if you fail miserably.

(With the greatest respect to those staff members who are able to.put a logical sentence together, and are not criminally intent, who hopefully would get my joke) - just in case someone reports my post, for it being a hate crime. and I get banned..

Will only be the home delivery drivers that get the checks done. Store staff wont be.

I was under the impression they merely contacted the courts to see if they had records because obviously they are the ones defining the the idea of a crime. I had a few checks as I have worked in financial services jobs and banks et al don't want to be giving fraudsters access to the clients accounts. I was also given a credit check would you believe. Never had a loan besides the student loan at university and I don't think that counts.

The company that I work for have a section for vetting, I know they do the checks for Tesco, so may do Asda as well. As I understand they just check that there is nothing untoward that may impact a person's ability to do the job. So things like not run away with the takings, open to bribery and collusion etc.

Odd to be worried about personal info that isn't there, if you've no record you've no record.

Reassuring to find out that they do check these though.
