My last stab at an ITIL exam was version 2, back in the noughties! This was provided by the company that i was working with at the time, so i'm looking to update to version 4.
Bought a book from Claire Agutter and will crack on through it over the next week, but having difficulty trying to find a place to book an exam.

Looking about on Google, it seems the going rate is about £300 for an exam, that cannot be right, can it?!
My other experience of purchasing an exam is through Microsoft, and they are considerably cheaper.

Can anyone recommend where i can find an "exam centre" that can cater for an online exam, but cheaper than what i've found so far?

ITIL used to be a government thing but they’ve since spun off ITIL, PRINCE2 and various other methodologies to Axelos, who are basically Crapita.

I’ve never heard of anyone self studying and then sitting the exam. Being cynical I’d say that doesn’t make Axelos or training providers any money so it won’t exactly be encouraged.

It’s not like CompTIA who actively encourage self study and then taking an online exam at a Pearson centre for £100 or so.

A quick Google found IT Governance offer an exam for £245 +VAT so your £300 is probably about right.

I've pretty much spent last night scouting about and it seems you're correct.
They pretty much have a monopoly on this course and so have set the price high for the exam.

I've found some mock exams on Udemy, for about £15, so will have a crack at them, after I've gone through the material and then book the rather expensive exam.
Thanks for the help
