Is there a way of checking if criminal record checks have been carried out against you?

What I'm looking for is a way to interrogate the CR Bureau to see if any checks have been carried out against me, and if so, who has requested them.

I don't think so. You have to fill out a Disclosure and Barring Service request. All sorts of GDPR and stuff prevents anyone else checking your criminal history.

If your referring to who has checked my DBS status and you use the Subscription Service, then yes you can login to your account and see who has done a DBS check on you.

If you are not on the DBS subscription service you may be able to use this link:

If you have never had a DBS certificate then I don't know.

Does a malicious employer not have enough personal information to satisfy GDPR on an employees behalf to complete a fraudulent check without the employee knowing about it?

I'm trying to find if CRB checks have been carried out without my knowledge.

No.

The DBS Certificate belongs to you. To perform a check they need your permission:

Employers and other organisations
To check a DBS certificate status online, you must:

be legally entitled to carry out a check
have the worker’s permission

Also, they need your last five years address history, complete with postcodes, etc. You will also know if they have managed to fraudulently carry out a DBS check because you will receive the certificate in the post. Which, if you didn't request it, will be a bit of a red flag.

As above they can’t do a DBS check without your permission. Have you been turned down for a job and think it may be because of something you’ve done in the past? It won’t be

Never done it personally but if you put a subject access request to the DBS asking for copies of all information they have about you I expect that should include copies of all requests for reports.

No charge for doing it and they have to respond in a month so won't take long.

Every time I have an (enhanced) DBS check done I get a copy sent to me at my home address. Plus to begin with you have to provide the relevant docs, they can't just do one without your involvement.

My certificates have been sent to sponsoring organisations contact details rather than home addresses.

Doesn’t matter where the certificates go they need your permission and original documents to even start the process
