Im not bothered by this (much) but i have people in my division/unit whom are a higher grade than me.

I feel as a role what i do with stakeholders and how I perform is far more than what i see with the higher graded employees.

Also some members in the higher grade have line manager duties which is fine. But one doesnt.

The bonus situation is that i dont sit in the management bonus criteria (one grade out).

Could i be earning more salary per annum? Could this just be historical mess?

Unless you know their salaries /packages I wouldn't get too hung about this.
Gradings can often be historical and when new starters are involved HR can sometimes allocate them seemingly slightly randomly.
We used to have the situation that within a grade there were 5 sub grades so frequently could find someone on a lower main grade could earn more than the person with a higher main grade depending on the sub grade -crazy !
Bonus's could also be calculated on a similar basis.
If you don't think you are being paid what you are worth then perhaps you need to speak to your Manager.

Thanks, these are the things I am thinking about, I'm happy about my current package and think I earn enough (based on work effort)

It's always a guessing game as you say. Some of this is historical I think. They promoted/created the positions for some of the roles/individuals about 2 years before I arrived.
